Spencer Ralston leads semifinal match in Ga. Amateur Championship

Recent Gainesville High graduate Spencer Ralston was 2 up through 15 holes against Georgia Tech signee Luke Schneiderjans before rain brought play to a halt during Saturday’s action in the Centennial Georgia Amateur Championship at the Capital City Club-Brookhaven in Atlanta. In the other semifinal match, Colin Bowles leads Kris Mikkelsen.

Play resumes Sunday at 7:30 a.m.

Ralston, a University of Georgia signee, won his quarterfinal match 3 and 2 against Chris Harris to open play Saturday.

Ralston won matches Friday against Michael Hines, 4 and 2, and beat Nickolaus Budd, 1-up. Ralston moved into the match play portion of the tournament with a 2-under par (138) over 36 holes and two days. His best round was Tuesday when he finished 5-under par (65).

CITY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP: Nathan Williams carded a second-round 68 to take the lead (144) against Ryan Hogan by a shot on Saturday at the Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville.

Jackson Bishop also shot a 4-under par in the second round to go into a second-place overall tie.

John Jacobs (155) leads the championship flight by two shots against Lee Rogers (157).

Jay Jacobs and Will Hicks both shot a first-round 78 in the blue tees first flight.

Greg Syfan is up in the flight two from the white tees after a 72.

Sean Moore carded a first-round 78 to lead the third flight.
