Lanier Canoe & Kayak Club athletes competed in day two of the Sprint World Championships Thursday in Szeged, Hungary.

In the men’s one-man canoe (C-1), Robert Finlayson, of Gainesville, finished seventh in the 1,000 meters C Final with a time of 4 minutes, 38.60 seconds, just 18.53 seconds behind the first place finisher.

Finlayson teamed up with Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club teammate Ben Hefner, also of Gainesville, and finished eighth in the C-4 men’s 1,000 meters A Final.

Gainesville’s Morgan House was part of the men’s four-person kayak (K-4) that did not advance to the 1,000 finals, but did finished sixth in their heat and eighth in their semifinal.
