Local paddlers dominate US Canoe/Kayak Marathon Trials on Lanier

Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club paddlers dominated in the opening day of the US Canoe/Kayak marathon trials event, held Saturday at Clark’s Bridge Park. John DePalma finished first in the men’s senior kayak division in a time of 2 hours, 28 minutes and 8 seconds, and Stanton Collins led the way in the junior kayak with a time of 1:53:29, the first of three LCKC paddlers who swept the top-three spots in the division. LCKC paddler Ian Ross led the way in men’s Under-23 canoe in a time of 2:00:32, and Emily House gave the LCKC another first place finish in the women’s U-23 kayak in a time of 1:53:43.
