The Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association played its monthly individual flighted strokes match last Wednesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. Herb Sckerl and Butch Teston tied for first place in the white flight, Larry Cohan came in third and Dick Bachman was fourth. Stan Davidson, Jr. and Gene Weschler tied for fifth. In the gold first flight, Ed Pledger finished in first place, Bob Pyne and Bill Collier tied for second, and Don Gage and Bob Henderson tied for fourth. Karl Goellner came in sixth. Roy Lyle took first place in the gold second flight while Harmon Smith, Dave Gleason and Ben Brooks tied for second. J.B. Johnston and Nick Grillo tied for fifth. Closest to the pin winners were Pledger (No. 3), Gage (No. 5 and No. 12), and Gleason (No. 17).
DOGFIGHT: Greg Lee, Cleve Sexton, Terry McFarland and George McMath finished in first place at 20-under par last week at the Wednesday Dogfight at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. Jim Arendt, Terry Clegg, Geoff Archibald and Horace Smallwood came in second at 19-under par, and Gayle Gibson, Karl Steigele, Yoshi and Mike Tilson were third. McFarland finished in first place individually with a score of 62, and Tilson came in second, shooting a 67. Arendt and Tommy Calhoun tied for third with scores of 69, and McMath, Yoshi and Lou Vega tied for fifth with scores of 70.
CLGA: The Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association played a flighted throw-out event on last Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course. In the first flight, Ann Hollobaugh won low gross, and Susan Prather and Martha Nesbitt tied for low net. Nancy Negley took low gross in the second flight, while Nora Gleason took low net. Closest to the pin winners were Anne Toopes (No. 3) and Nesbitt (No. 17).
DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played matches Monday, Wednesday and Friday last week at Chicopee Woods Golf Course. Charley Kilby finished in first place on Monday, Denis Jordan came in second, and Norm Phillips was third. On Wednesday, Justin Pepicelli took first place, Terrence Dale took second and Dave Jetter took third. Dwight Miller won on Friday, and Kilby and James Roberts tied for second.
