The first City-County Championship kicked off Saturday at Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville before players switched gears to compete in the final round at Chicopee Woods Golf Course today.
At the end of Round 1, Morgan Nix, Larry White, Terry Clegg and Terry McFarland each held leads in their respective divisions.
Nix shot a 71 to cling to a one-shot lead in the Championship Flight over Davis Weaver. Randy Bailey (74), Jim Foote (76) and Ryan Hogan (76) round out the top four after the first round.
In the Blue Tee Flight, White’s round of 73 was good enough for a three-shot lead over Tate Freeman. Keith Morris’ 79 put him in third, two shots ahead of Walter Hope.
Clegg is two shots up on Tommy Calhoun in the Senior White Tee Flight with an 82. Pat Ruiz, Tony Tankersley and Wayne Strickland are all tied for third after shooting 87.
The Super Senior Flight saw a one-stroke difference at the top and another stroke separating second and third.
McFarland leads the group with a 77, as Joe Roberts holds on to second place. In third, Paul Payne and Roger Stapp are two strokes off the lead.
Round 2 will see the leaders tee off at 11:30 a.m. today at Chicopee.
The annual City Championship will be held at Chattahoochee Golf Club on July 15-17 and the annual Chicopee Championship will be held Aug. 13-14 at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.
