Local golf: Luna's group compete at Hampton Village

Joe Roberts, Jimmy Harritos, Cleve Brown and Doug Van teamed up to take first place in the Luna’s Tuesday golf group’s match at the Hampton Golf Village Course in Cumming.

Second place went to the team of Gene Weschler, Tommy Lowery, Royce Deaton and Johnny Nix, and Stan Davidson Jr., Don Rogers, Randy Gordy and Tom Sexton came in third.

Closest to the pin winners were Lowery (No. 2), Weschler (No. 8), Van (No. 11) and Roberts (No. 15 and No. 17).

CLGA: Ann Hollobaugh, Jackie Somerville and Mona White won the Chattahoochee Ladies Golf Association’s team scramble event Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Mona White, Martha Shell, Sue Cronmiller and Riki Von Stroud came in second.
Closest to the pin winners were Hollobaugh (No. 3) and Shell (No. 17).

DPG: The Dedicated Players Group played matches on Wednesday and Friday at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Jerry Shell won Wednesday’s event, Bill Chambers came in second, and Norm Phillips took third.

On Friday, Steve Knowles won, and Dwight Miller and Dewey Alverson tied for second place.

DOGFIGHT: Greg Lee, Dan Arthurs, Tom Frier and Terry McFarland won last week’s Wednesday Dogfight event at Chicopee Woods Golf Course.

Jerry Horton, Mark Black, Joe Roberts and Yoshi came in second. The two teams of Tom Bolton, Paul Gibson, Henry Komoto and Mike Tilson, and Luke James, Don Schrum, Cleve Sexton and Lou Vega tied for third place.

Tilson and Black tied for first individually.

CMGA: Bob Watson, Ed Pledger and Johnny Little won the Chattahoochee Men’s Golf Association’s two-best-ball, aggregated-net-strokes event last Tuesday at the Chattahoochee Golf Course.

Harry Barnett, Bud Clegg and Clay Bartlett came in second, and Bill Sutton, Roger Miller, Don Sorrell and Nick Grillo took third place.

Closest to the pin winners were Eddie Johnson (No. 3), Karl Goellner (No. 5), Jim Carroll (No. 12) and Sutton (No. 17).
