Paddlers sprint to the finish during day 2 of the 2011 USA Canoe/Kayak Sprint National Championships at the Olympic Center at Clarks Bridge Park Friday morning.

The podium Friday was filled with members of the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club, as the team reeled in 20 top-three finishes in the 500-meter events at the USA Canoe/Kayak Sprint National Championships at the venue on Clarks Bridge Road.

Robert Finlayson continued his strong performance at the event, winning a gold medal in the Men's C-1 Senior event and a silver in the Men's C-2 Senior event. Finlayson, who won three gold medals Thursday, teamed up with Alejandro Schwedhelm in the C-2 event.

That duo finished behind LCKC's Ben Hefner and the Washington Canoe Club's Ian Ross. Hefner placed second in the C-1 Senior event, which also saw LCKC athlete Claudiu Ciur finish third for a sweep of the race.

LCKC is attempting to win its 10th national championship.
Tanner Easterday also won a gold medal for LCKC in the Men's K-1 Junior event, while Emily Vinson teamed up with a trio of Oklahoma City paddlers to win the Women's K-4 Senior race. Easterday paired up with Stanton Collins to finish second in the Men's K-2 Junior event.

Also finishing second for LCKC was Hannah Schilling, who won a silver in the Women's C-1 Senior event and, along with Hawaii's Abbey Haines, won bronze in the Women's C-2 Junior race.

Finishing third was a trend for LCKC on Friday, as the club won bronze in nine other events.

Olympic hopeful Morgan House won his second bronze in two days with his third-place finish in the Men's K-1 Senior competition, while Riley Brunner won two bronzes - in the Men's C-1 Bantam and Men's C-2 Bantam. Brunner was paired alongside Baxter Geyer in the C-2 race.

Avana Bennett also had a pair of third-place finishes for LCKC in the Women's C-1 Bantam and Women's K-2 Bantam.

Farran Smith teamed up with Bennett for the third-place finish in the K-2 race.

Dylan Easterday and Natalie Kean each won a bronze medal; Easterday in the Men's K-1 Bantam and Kean in the Women's K-1 Intermediate.

Also finishing third for LCKC were Ciur and Rich Stewart in the Men's C-2 Senior race and Kasi Paul and Chelsea Smith in the Women's K-4 Junior competition. Paul and Smith were joined by Debra and Julia Jones of WCC in the K-4 event.

The USACK Sprint National Championships continue at 8 a.m. today with events in the 200-, 3,000- and 5,000-meter.
