The podium Friday was filled with members of the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club, as the team reeled in 20 top-three finishes in the 500-meter events at the USA Canoe/Kayak Sprint National Championships at the venue on Clarks Bridge Road.
Robert Finlayson continued his strong performance at the event, winning a gold medal in the Men's C-1 Senior event and a silver in the Men's C-2 Senior event. Finlayson, who won three gold medals Thursday, teamed up with Alejandro Schwedhelm in the C-2 event.
That duo finished behind LCKC's Ben Hefner and the Washington Canoe Club's Ian Ross. Hefner placed second in the C-1 Senior event, which also saw LCKC athlete Claudiu Ciur finish third for a sweep of the race.
LCKC is attempting to win its 10th national championship.
Tanner Easterday also won a gold medal for LCKC in the Men's K-1 Junior event, while Emily Vinson teamed up with a trio of Oklahoma City paddlers to win the Women's K-4 Senior race. Easterday paired up with Stanton Collins to finish second in the Men's K-2 Junior event.
Also finishing second for LCKC was Hannah Schilling, who won a silver in the Women's C-1 Senior event and, along with Hawaii's Abbey Haines, won bronze in the Women's C-2 Junior race.
Finishing third was a trend for LCKC on Friday, as the club won bronze in nine other events.
Olympic hopeful Morgan House won his second bronze in two days with his third-place finish in the Men's K-1 Senior competition, while Riley Brunner won two bronzes - in the Men's C-1 Bantam and Men's C-2 Bantam. Brunner was paired alongside Baxter Geyer in the C-2 race.
Avana Bennett also had a pair of third-place finishes for LCKC in the Women's C-1 Bantam and Women's K-2 Bantam.
Farran Smith teamed up with Bennett for the third-place finish in the K-2 race.
Dylan Easterday and Natalie Kean each won a bronze medal; Easterday in the Men's K-1 Bantam and Kean in the Women's K-1 Intermediate.
Also finishing third for LCKC were Ciur and Rich Stewart in the Men's C-2 Senior race and Kasi Paul and Chelsea Smith in the Women's K-4 Junior competition. Paul and Smith were joined by Debra and Julia Jones of WCC in the K-4 event.
The USACK Sprint National Championships continue at 8 a.m. today with events in the 200-, 3,000- and 5,000-meter.
