Former Gainesville High golfer Spencer Ralston finishes 7th, helps Bulldogs to 5th in 3-day event

Gainesville High grad Spencer Ralston shot a 1-over 73 Tuesday in the final round of the Franklin American Mortgage Company Intercollegiate, helping the University of Georgia golf team to fifth place in the tournament at The Grove in College Grove, Tenn.

Teammates Greyson Sigg and Tye Waller also signed for 73s after the final round. Jaime Lopez Rivarola shot 4-over 76 and David Mackey added a 7-over 79.

Ralston was the lowest individual Georgia player as he finished seventh with a 1-over 217 for the three-day event. He finished just six shy of Ole Miss’ Braden Thornberry.

Sigg finished ninth at 3-over 219, followed by Waller in 13th (220).

For the tournament, the Bulldogs finished seventh in team scoring with a 19-over 883.

Georgia will play in the Nike Invitational on Oct. 2-4 in Fort Worth, Texas.
