Flowery Branch and University of South Carolina grad Courtney Newton has been selected as the varsity girls basketball coach at Lexington High in Lexington, S.C., the school announced Friday. Newton graduated with a bachelor’s degree in experimental psychology and an educational specialist degree in counselor education and currently serves as a Lexington High school counselor. She was named to the All-State team during her senior year at Flowery Branch after averaging 24.6 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
