Three local players sign to play college ball
Union County's Odom, White County's Westmoreland sign with Young Harris

Union County’s Zach Odom and White County’s Brett Westmoreland signed to continue their academic and baseball careers with Young Harris College beginning next fall, the college announced Thursday.

Middle infielder Odom has batted .359 in his time at Union County with 10 home runs, 43 RBIs and 66 runs scored. He was named to the all-region first team twice and the second team once.

First baseman Westmoreland batted .442 last year at White County with four home runs and 30 RBIs and was named to the all-region first team and all-area second team.

Union County’s Hannah Hughes has signed to play her college softball for North Georgia College & State University, the college announced Thursday.

First baseman Hughes completed her high school career as a member of the all-region first team and the all-state second team during her junior year. She followed that up by being named to the all-region first team and was the Region 8-AA Player of the Year as a senior.

Hughes plays travel ball with the Georgia Combat.
