The North Georgia College & State University baseball team rallied to defeat Truett-McConnell 4-3 on Wednesday at Bob Stein Stadium in Dahlonega.
Saints pitcher Jacob Beauchamp came on in relief with 4 2/3 innings pitched, four strikeouts and one earned run to grab his second win of the season and Reese Patten picked up the save.
Matt Black led North Georgia at the plate, going 2 for 4 and driving in two runs, and Jordan Erisman finished 2 for 3. The Saints Armstrong Atlantic on Friday for a three-game series in Savannah.
NORTH GEORGIA SOFTBALL SWEEPS BELLARMINE: The No. 2-ranked Lady Saints (20-3) swept Bellarmine (12-9) in a doubleheader Wednesday in Dahlonega, using a walk-off hit and dominating pitching to win their ninth and 10th games in a row.
North Georgia won 4-3 in the opener, led on offense by Karlie Gillam (3 for 3, solo home run) and in the pitchers circle by Jessica Coan (13-3) with 5 1/3 inning pitched in relief and 13 strikeouts.
North Georgia won 4-3 again in the second game on a walk-off double by Kayla Minger in the eighth. Coan recorded her second win of the day, pitching a complete game. The Saints return to action today when they host West Georgia at 3 p.m. for a doubleheader.
PIEDMONT BASEBALL DEFEATS ALBION 12-3: The No. 10 Lions (10-3) scored in every inning except the second frame, and held the Britons to just three hits Wednesday at Loudermilk field in Demorest.
Piedmont freshman Chris Goershel went seven innings on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out five to earn the win.
On offense Piedmont sophomore Chris Lew finished 3 for 4 with an RBI, two runs scored and two doubles. Junior Garrett Lovelace drove in three runs on two hits, scoring once as well.
