Young Harris scored four runs in its final two at-bats as the Mountain Lions rallied for an 8-6 victory against Brevard College on Wednesday in Brevard, N.C.
Dom Wyshinski had an RBI single to left for the Mountain Lions and Tom Valichka’s singled to center tied the game at 6-6. Wyshinski gave the Mountain Lions the lead for good when he scored on a wild pitch. The Mountain Lions added an insurance run in the ninth on David Atwood’s double to right-center field.
Bowen Klosinski and Zach Bricknell drove in runs with bases-loaded walks earlier in the game for Young Harris, while Zeke Gribble and Adam Moore were hit by pitches to score the other runs for the Mountain Lions.
Oliver Pratt (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win, while Brice Merritt picked up his first save with two scoreless innings and four strikeouts.
Young Harris (12-15) plays host to Augusta State University on Friday in Young Harris.
NORTH GEORGIA 7, ANDERSON 4: Eason Spivey hit his second home run of the season for the Saints on Wednesday in Anderson, S.C.
Spivey finished the game 2 for 4, and Kenny Bellavance added two hits for North Georgia (10-18).
Brandon Agar (4-3) earned the win, striking out five over 2 1/3 innings.
North Georgia plays host to the University of North Carolina-Pembroke in a doubleheader on Friday in Dahlonega.
YOUNG HARRIS WOMEN 5, CLAYTON STATE 4: Young Harris (11-4, 5-3 Peach Belt Conference) held a 2-1 lead after doubles, and the Mountain Lions claimed three singles matches to claim a 5-3 advantage. After wins by Charlotte Dawson and Carolina Hernandez, Charlotte Moreau clinched the win with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles for Young Harris.
The Mountain Lions play host to the University of South Carolina-Aiken at 2 p.m. Friday in Young Harris.
