With a jumper at the 13:09 mark, Gainesville grad Jaymee Carnes eclipsed the 1,000 career points mark en route to a 30-point performance Thursday night to lead three other Saints in double figures, but it was not enough as the University of North Georgia women’s basketball team fell 92-88 on the road to Columbus State University in a pivotal Peach Belt Conference West Division matchup.
Carnes led all scorers with her 30-point performance. It was a season-high for the junior, as she went 13 of 21 from the field and finished with seven rebounds, seven assists and four blocks.
Sophomore guard Stephanie Huffman added 18 points for the Saints (7-11, 5-6), Mimi Hill added 16 points and eight rebounds while freshman Keeley Chester had 11 points.
Chatil Bradford led the scoring drive for the Cougars (11-8, 7-5) with 23 points and seven rebounds.
