Brenau tennis splits matches in tourney

The Brenau University tennis team split a pair of matches against Oklahoma Christian University and Auburn-Montgomery in the AUM Spring Invitational on Friday in Montgomery, Ala.

The Golden Tigers (10-4) received singles victories from Lyn See Choo and Jolene Wong and swept doubles action to pull out a 5-1 victory against Oklahoma Christian University.

Brenau lost to No. 1-ranked Auburn-Montgomery in the final match of the day. See Choo lost in singles for the Golden Tigers, snapping a 13-match winning streak. Hannah Thompson and Nelli Martirsoyan lost in close singles matches for the Golden Tigers.

Brenau softball streak snapped

The Golden Tigers split games in the Gulf Coast Softball tournament on Friday with a 8-4 win against Science and Arts of Oklahoma, after losing 4-3 against William Carey College in Mobile, Ala.

Against William Carey, Cassie Lassiter went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run. Brooke Borders had three hits for the Golden Tigers and Jesse Lynn Groves was 2-for-3. Ellen Black, Tori Fobb and Colleen Sparrow also picked up hits for Brenau. The loss to Wiliam Carey snapped a 10-game winning streak.

Brenau rebounded in the nightcap with a 4-for-4 night at the plate from Fobb to earn to win. Groves, Nicole Burt and Brooke Bryant each added two hits for the Golden Tigers.
