Brenau softball picks up pair of victories

The No.11-ranked Brenau University softball team swept a doubleheader against Emmanuel College on Monday, 2-0, 9-0, to push their record to 30-9-1 overall and 21-6-1 in the Southern States Athletic Conference.

Anna Maness picked up her 18th and 19th wins of the season on the mound, which places her ninth in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for total wins. Maness also increased her shutout total to 15 on the season.

Ellen Black went 2-for-3 and Brooke Bryant and Sarah Applegarth each had an RBI in the first game. In the second game, the Golden Tigers tallied 13 hits in a game shortened to five innings.

Maness went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and a grand slam home run, Black went 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBIs, Tiffany Schandera had a hit and two RBIs, Morgan Smith had a hit and an RBI, Austin Smith and Brooke Bryant each had two hits and Sarah Applegarth and Lana Lazar each added a hit for Brenau.

The Golden Tigers visit No.19 Shorter College on Friday in Rome.
