Brenau University sophomore Lily Futrell scored all three goals in her team’s Southern States Athletic Conference win over Emmanuel, 3-1, in soccer action at Franklin Springs on Saturday.
Futrell now has 11 goals and five assists on the year.
With wins in its final two games of the season, Brenau will qualify for the conference tournament. The Golden Tigers (6-7-1, 3-5) return to action against Shorter College today.
Golden Tigers win third match
The Brenau University volleyball team snapped a 10-game losing streak by defeating Pensacola Christian 3-0 (30-28, 30-27, 30-23) Saturday at the Faulkner Invitational.
Sophomores Karen Green and Audra VanArsdale led the way for the Golden Tigers (3-21) with Green getting 14 kills and VanArsdale getting 31 assists, four kills, one ace and two solo blocks.
In its second match against Florida College, Brenau came up short, losing 3-1 (30-19, 20-30, 15-30, 27-30). Green and VanArsdale again led the way for the Golden Tigers with green getting another 14 kills to go with two aces and two solo blocks while VanArsdale had another 29 assists to go with five kills and four aces.
Hook and Wong win tennis doubles championship
Brigid Hook and Jolene Wong won the doubles championship in the second flight grouping at the Central Alabama Invitational on Saturday.
