On Thursday, Jacob Selman was announced as the new girls basketball coach at West Hall High.

The new Lady Spartans coach comes from Woodland-Cartersville, where he guided the boys’ program to a 5-19 record in 2022.

Selman steps in to fill the coaching position previously held by Shawana Harrison.

West Hall went 0-25 in 2022.

“’When I was presented the opportunity to coach the West Hall Lady Spartans, I was thrilled,” Selman said. “The decision to leave Woodland wasn’t easy, but I’m excited for this new challenge. Building relationships while coaching basketball is my passion. I can’t wait to meet the Lady Spartans and get to work.

Selman began his coaching career at Marietta High, in 2010, as an assistant coach. During his time in Cobb County, the Blue Devils boys made the state playoffs all three seasons he was on their staff.

In 2013, Selman moved to North Forsyth High, serving as assistant boys coach.

A native of Rome, Selman spent two seasons after college playing in the World Basketball Association.
