Baseball scoreboard: North Hall, Cherokee Bluff and Chestatee pick up victories

North Hall’s Kaleb Sexton is fitting in just fine, pitching in big games. 

On Monday, the Trojans’ freshman threw a complete game and allowed just four hits and two earned runs with nine strikeouts in an 8-4 win against East Forsyth. 

The starter for North Hall (10-4, 3-3 Region 8-4A) threw 93 pitches, 65 of those were for strikes. 

At the plate, Jon Jon Read had two hits and drove in a run for the Trojans. 

Trojans centerfielder Ajay Jones scored a pair of runs and stole a pair of bases. 

Up next, North Hall hosts East Forsyth on Wednesday at Cottrell Field. 


CHEROKEE BLUFF 5, MORGAN COUNTY 3: Ty Corbin went 2-for-3, drove in a run, stole two bases and scored a run as the Class 4A top-ranked Bears (11-0) rallied from a 3-0 deficit after two innings to score five unanswered runs for the come-from-behind non-region victory Monday in Madison.

Caleb Miele, Bryce England, Landon Kemp and Garrett Harper each contributed a hit and an RBI for the Cherokee Bluff offense.

Meanwhile, Braxton Beal pitched around three unearned runs, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out six over five innings to pick up the win.

Ben Crumpton and Jacob Vokal each added a scoreless inning out of the bullpen, with the latter closing out the game to record the save.

The two teams will face each other again Wednesday at 5:55 p.m. at Cherokee Bluff.

CHESTATEE 6, EAST HALL 5: Thomas Martens got the start on the mound, allowing three runs and three hits over five frames. In relief, Joshua Bull threw the final two innings and scattered three hits and allowed two runs. 

Tied 3-3 in the top of the seventh inning, Jake Hitchcock drove in a run with a single. 

Cohen Miller finished 3 for 4 at the plate for the War Eagles, while Nick McKoy and Bull each added a pair of hits. 

For the Vikings, Drew Campbell went 2 for 3. 

Up next, Chestatee faces East Hall on Wednesday. 

LANIER CHRISTIAN 6, YOUNG AMERICANS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL 1: Camden Hohman threw six innings and allowed just one hit for the Lightning on Monday. 

At the plate, Joshua Waymack connected on a two-run homer for Lanier Christian. 

Also for the Lightning, Barry Waymack chipped in a pair of hits, while Isaac Dinn and Titus Lulinski each had a hit. 

Up next, Lanier Christian faces Covington Academy on Thursday.
