SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. — Atlanta Braves righthander John Smoltz reported no discomfort in his right shoulder after allowing one hit in one inning of work on a rehab assignment with the Class AA Mississippi Braves.

Smoltz threw 12 pitches, 8 for strikes, in the eighth inning of a game against the Knoxville Smokies Saturday night.

Smoltz was placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 28. The Braves web site said the pitcher will return to Atlanta on Sunday and the Braves will decide whether to schedule another rehab assignment or activate him.
