Wolves nail down top seed with 49-10 win

The Buford defense held Blessed Trinity to 127 yards of total offense (58 rushing, 69 passing) on the way to a 49-10 victory Friday in Roswell.

Buford (10-0, 6-0 Region 8-AA), will be a No. 1 seed in the Class AA playoffs and host No. 4 seed Temple out of Region 5-AA on Friday.

The Wolves, as they have all season, used the ground game as their primary means of putting points on the scoreboard with 284 yards of rushing.

Andre Johnson scored the first points for the Wolves on a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Dontravious Wilson and Rich Legrant added rushing touchdowns of 21 and 85 yards, respectively. Mikey Bart's 27-yard fumble return help put the Wolves up 28-0 before Blessed Trinity scored on a 10-yard pass before the half.

C.J. Moore took the opening kickoff of the second half back 95 yards for a score. Later in the third quarter, Andrew Sciara scored on a 1-yard run and Thomas Wilson added a 14-yard touchdown. After a David Petroni 29-yard field goal, the Wolves led 49-7.

Blessed Trinity hit a 29-yard field goal with three minutes left and is the first team to score at least 10 points against the Buford defense since Sept 10.

Legrant led the Wolves in rushing with 93 yards and a touchdown on three carries.
