Towns County needed double overtime on Friday for a 13-6 win over Riverside Military Academy in Hiawasee.
Towns County took the lead in the first quarter with a 23-yard touchdown run. The extra point was missed, putting the score 6-0.
That would stay the same until late in the fourth quarter when Riverside’s Lyle Lopez ran for a touchdown with just 32.7 seconds left in the game. The Eagles lined up for the extra point to take the lead but the Indians blocked it to force overtime.
In the first overtime, the Eagles lined up for a 19-yard field goal but missed it. Towns took possession but Riverside stopped the Indians on fourth down to send it to double overtime.
Towns took the lead with a touchdown at 13-6. Riverside reached the 1-yard line looking to tie the game but the Indians flexed their muscles and kept the Eagles out of the end zone to end the game.
Riverside Military falls to 1-3 and plays Hebron on Friday.
