Matthews tops 1,000 yards as Lumpkin County routs Fannin, 63-37

Lumpkin County running back Zach Matthews rushed for 189 yards and four touchdowns in Friday night’s Region 7-AAA win against Fannin County, 63-37, on senior night in Dahlonega.

Matthews reached a milestone with over 1,000 yards on the ground for the season for the Indians (4-4, 2-2 Region 7-AAA).

Lumpkin quarterback Chandler Woodham had eight carries for 152 yards with two touchdowns, while running back Cole White racked up 133 yards with one touchdown. Luke Smith finished the night rushing for 125 yards.

Lumpkin County plays Dawson County next week at Dawsonville.
