Gainesville nails down subregion with 48-0 win
Red Elephants now 7-1, will play for region title on Nov. 4

Gainesville recorded its second shutout of the season on the way to a 48-0 rout of Walnut Grove on Friday in Walnut Grove.

With the win, Gainesville (7-1, 4-0) clinches the Region 8-AAA South title and will play for the region championship on Nov. 4 at City Park.

The Red Elephants' Deshaun Watson began the scoring with a 1-yard quarterback keeper. He then hit Keyontre Harrison for a touchdown and Gainesville led 14-0 after quarter number one.

Watson completed 8 of 11 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns on the night.

In the second quarter, Jeremiah Ledbetter returned a blocked punt and Stephen Mason caught a touchdown pass from Watson to put the Red Elephants up by 28 heading into the locker room. Mason finished the game with four catches for 79 yards.

Harrison, who had four receptions also had a 50-yard touchdown run in the third. Brenquez Dukes added another four yard run before Mike Gonzalez connected with Caleb Hayman on a 24-yard touchdown pass to close out the third quarter.
