A victory proved elusive for Chestatee on Friday as the War Eagles finished 0-10 with a 44-17 loss to Monroe Area at War Eagle Stadium.
Chestatee was down by only six points entering the fourth quarter with hopes of avoiding the school’s second winless season since 2003, its second year. But 21 unanswered points from Monroe Area stopped any hope of a comeback.
War Eagles’ sophomore running back Nick Lyles scored a touchdown with less than five seconds left in the third quarter. Chestatee senior quarterback Logan Cates ran for a touchdown in the first quarter, and senior kicker Jaime Ortega made a 36-yard field goal at the end of the half to account for Chestatee’s scoring.
The War Eagles finished the season 0-10, 0-7 8-AAAA.
