Babers boosts Habersham to fast start with 45-13 win over Vikings

Senior running back Michael Babers had 19 carries for 183 yards and three touchdowns as Habersham Central opened up its season with a victory for the first time since 2011, beating East Hall 45-13.

Raiders’ quarterback Cole Wilbanks was 15 for 21 for 175 yards and a pair of scores. Jake Jones was on the receiving end of a 50-yard touchdown pass and Aaron Wood caught a 30-yard score.

Dawson Landers, Austin Frady and Jones each had six tackles on the night for Habersham. Frady also tacked on four tackles for loss.

In special teams, Hampton Hotard hit a 24-yard field goal for the Raiders.

Habersham will take a week off before traveling to White County on Sept. 2. East Hall will host Chestatee on Friday.
