My husband, Staff Sgt. Taylor Moretz, was one of the soldiers who deployed with the 802nd Ordnance Company this week. I just wanted to say how touched we were by the showing of support by the Gainesville Police Department, Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Power Co., Riverside Military Academy and Hall County Fire Services.

It was so heart-warming to make that drive and see the people on the side of the street, waving from office buildings and cars. I just wanted you to know that your love was felt and so very appreciated!

All of the soldiers were talking about how the city and community really pulled together for them. You gave them a heroes’ send-off and I wish to say thank you to all those who took the time to participate.

I know my husband said that when he’s over there and he’s homesick, he will think back to that day, to the little girl who came up to shake his hand and tell him thanks, and he will remember what he’s doing over there. Thank you so much.

Tonya Moretz
