Include full name, hometown and phone number for confirmation. They should be limited to one topic on issues of public interest and may be edited for content and length (limit of 500 words). Letters originating from other sources or those involving personal, business or legal disputes, poetry, expressions of faith or memorial tributes may be rejected. You may be limited to one letter per month, two on a single topic. Submitted items may be published in print, electronic or other forms. A real hero. It's not a pro football player, pro baseball player, pro basketball player. It's not a rich, ego-filled actor. It's not a Ted Turner millionaire. It's a person who's given the best years of their life to serve their country. It's the Marine, sailor, airman, U.S Army vet and the Coast Guardsman. These are our heroes.

Let's appreciate these people every day, not just Memorial Day. Any time we see these great Americans, lets go up and say, "Thank you for serving."
