Belton Bridge Park is the scourge of North Hall County. Those of us who live near the park long ago gave up on the Corps of Engineers or the county doing anything.

A year before the 2004 murder, The Times did a story on the park raising the same concerns: criminal activity, dumped unwanted pets, bridge diving, mud bogging, beer drinking, pistol shooting, on and on. We begged that the park be closed or improved so it could be patrolled by deputies. Nothing was done.

Then someone was murdered. Still nothing was done. Now there is more blood in the mud. Five times in the parks history. How many more will die?

Any private establishment would have been shut down long ago. Shame, shame, shame!
