While attempting to disarm U.S. citizens, our government is arming itself to the teeth: At least 73 federal agencies have their own private armies here in the U.S., including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Fisheries Office, the Department of Education, the Food and Drug Administration, the Inspector General’s office of the Department of Agriculture, the Bureau of Land Management, the Library of Congress and Veterans Affairs.

The Department of Homeland Security has more than 100,000 armed officers. DHS is currently seeking to acquire 7,000 automatic assault weapons and 30-round magazines for those weapons.

DHS has also said it wants to buy more than 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition, more than five bullets for every man, woman and child in America.

News is beginning to trickle out that, back in September 2012, the DHS retrofitted 2,717 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected armored vehicles, which are intended for use on American streets.

DHS and others have purchased $2 million worth of no-hesitation targets for government shooting ranges that depict children, pregnant women and elderly people.

The Senate Armed Services Committee is calling for the use of Predator drones that are being recalled from Afghanistan to be used in the U.S., to patrol American skies. The new FAA Reauthorization Act pushes the FAA to develop regulations for the testing and licensing of commercial drones by 2015. The FAA estimates that by 2020, 30,000 drones could be patrolling American skies, many of them armed.

According to U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan., DHS has refused to answer questions from members of Congress regarding its recent purchase of huge amounts of weapons and ammunition.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant. Write or call your congressman and senators to demand an investigation and congressional hearings now!
