Opinion: Patients deserve better from UHC, Health System

As of May 1, 2023, United Heathcare Insurance was dropped by Northeast Georgia Hospital System and all their doctors, or rather all MY doctors. NGHS and UHC could not reach an agreement for continuation of services because both parties have selfishly forgotten who they serve.

Doctors can offer a continuation of care if they agree to it. Only one of mine has agreed, and it is up to the patient to request it. Most have not agreed.

Because of this debacle, the care I can get from the specialists I need would have me driving 140 miles round trip into downtown Atlanta and as far as McDonough when the doctors I have been seeing are only 10-15 miles away. This is forcing me to pay for health insurance that I can’t really use.

Shame on both of you for putting sick patients last.
