Like many in our community, I have been saddened recently to read in the press of the shortcomings of a couple of our public servants in the Gainesville Police Department. I am particularly distressed by the amount of negative commentary and vitriol espoused by the general public (particularly on social media) regarding these two former officers who have fallen short of the required high standard of conduct for their profession.
