Opinion: Look at Democrats’ long history of racism

“Racist” is the stereotypical accusation aimed at anyone who disagrees with liberal Democrats. These radicals don’t care if such criticism is true. It’s all about stirring the racist pot for political purposes, prominence and profit.

Ironically, today’s liberal Democrats have conveniently overlooked their party’s long, sordid history of racism. Truth matters. What about these ignored facts?

The Republican Party was created in 1854 to combat the Kansas-Nebraska Act, which sought to expand slavery into American territories. Moreover, Republicans led the fight to destroy the Confederate States of America (1861-65).

Abraham Lincoln, the first Republican president, issued the Emancipation Proclamation on Jan. 1, 1863, that freed enslaved Black people during the Civil War.

After that bloody conflict ended on April 9, 1865, the Ku Klux Klan was created by Southern Democrats who hated Black people. Interestingly, White Republican militias sought to destroy the KKK.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Jim Crow laws were passed by Southern Democrat-dominated state legislatures to enforce racial segregation and remove political/economic gains by Black people during Reconstruction.

When the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed, a higher percentage of Republicans voted for this landmark bill than Democrats in both the U.S. House (80% vs. 61%) and U.S. Senate (82% vs 69%). Plus, Southern Democrats led the 74-day filibuster that opposed this legislation.

Now in the 21st century, poverty, crime and apathy continue to plague many Black communities, especially in major U.S. cities led by Democrat mayors.

In short, liberal Democrats have done far more than Republicans to sabotage the progress of Black people over the past century-and-a-half. Not surprisingly, the biased, dishonest media has concealed the lies of liberal Democrats and fanned the flames of racism.

There’s encouraging news. More Black people have opened their eyes to the truth of how racist liberal Democrats have been for decades. Hence,  many enlightened Black people have rejected liberal Democrats and embraced the conservative values of Republicans. It’s about time.

America offers more freedom and opportunity than any nation, but each person is responsible for the outcomes. Recommendations to all races: make education a priority; obey the laws of the land; avoid harmful habits; find a meaningful career; contribute to society; stop whining and start winning.

A positive outlook, common sense, self-discipline, self-motivation, hard work, resourcefulness and perseverance are some of the main ingredients needed for a successful, happy life in the “land of the free and home of the brave.” Unquestionably, there will be roadblocks along life’s journey, but overcoming these obstacles is what helps people grow and reach their full potential.

Two key questions are paramount: Will I continue to play the race card, further divide the nation and cope with constant chaos? Or will I take full advantage of my many liberties and limitless possibilities in pursuit of peace and prosperity?
