June 28 was “Stonewall” or “Pride Day”. It commemorated the start of the Stonewall Riots in 1969, which began as a protest against the intense police brutality and heavy policing against LGBTQ+ people as police came in to raid the Stonewall Inn and to arrest people on “solicitation with homosexual relations’’ and who “weren’t wearing non-gendered appropriate clothing” (or also known as the “3 articles of clothing” law).
