Letter: Choosing love, peace that faith offers is path to happiness

Recently I got inebriated and I had a hangover the next morning, but instead of feeling bad, I felt renewed. And recently, I hugged many nice ladies, and even hugged some men. And recently at times, I laughed so hard tears ran down my cheeks.

And recently I learned something: Following he do’s of life that have worked for more than 2,000 years is the path that leads to a happy and peaceful life. And recently, I learned of the eventual dire consequences of a culture when the don’ts become paramount over the do’s.

And recently, I learned all those things from the wisdom and truth expressed in the best-selling book in the world.

You see, I was at a revival at my church. And I was drunk on love and peace in my heart. And my hangover consisted of wanting more of the warmth I felt in my heart. And the many nice women and some men I hugged were my sisters and brothers in Christ.

I realize there are those in our society who hate what I believe in, and they resort to calling me all sort of derogatory names. I do not like being called untruthful, hateful names, but I do not hate those who resort to those tactics in an attempt to intimidate me. I tried hate one time and it make me feel as if I was nauseated. I would rather stick with love, which produces peace beyond all understanding and, yes, happiness.

I believe we can find heaven on earth or hell on earth; it is all up to the individual. The heaven on earth I choose, before being called to the heaven elsewhere when I did, consists of love for my fellow man and following the do’s and don’ts in the Good book. I also believe hell on earth can be found by those who choose hate and abandoning the do’s and accepting the don’ts in that same book.

Finally, my choice is to be inebriated on love, which coincides with peace and happiness. That is what makes sense to me.
