An 8-year-old boy sustained a broken leg and other injuries during an alleged hit-and-run wreck at a local apartment complex Sunday.

Morgan Ashley Ray, 25, of Gainesville is charged with DUI, serious injury by vehicle and hit-and-run after allegedly hitting the boy, who was a pedestrian.

According to a Gainesville Police report, authorities tracked Ray to her nearby apartment through physical and video evidence after she allegedly failed to stop at the wreck scene on Vineyard Way in Gainesville.

She denied any knowledge of the wreck or wrongdoing, according to the report, but a strong odor of alcohol was noted.

Ray was arrested, declined to answer any questions and blood test results are pending. She did not respond to calls from The Times for comment.

A family member of the boy confirmed the injuries.
