In Hall County and all along Lake Lanier, it’s important to know how to swim. Thanks to a partnership between the Georgia Mountains YMCA and Hall County Schools, hundreds of children in the area were taught to swim this year for free. “This year has already been a banner year for water safety due to an increase in community support and school participation in the Learn to Swim program,” said Greg Supianoski, executive director at the J.A. Walters Family YMCA. Supianoski said the J.A. Walters Family YMCA partnered with Wauka Mountain Elementary, teaching about 400 children to swim this spring.
