The Wreaths Across America Remembrance Wreath Laying Ceremony at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville was sponsored by the local Gen. James Longstreet Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Active or former members of six branches of service, including the Merchant Marine and Coast Guard, presented ceremonial wreaths before volunteers began laying wreaths on veterans’ graves.
