Flowery Branch man, 68, killed in concrete plant accident

A 68-year-old Flowery Branch man was killed Friday after suffering severe injuries at a Candler Road work site, according to authorities.

The victim's identity was confirmed as Jake Sanders on Saturday morning by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff's Office Deputy Stephen Wilbanks said Friday the employee had “accidentally been caught between a dump truck and a front-end loader.”

“The victim was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead,” Wilbanks said.

Deputies responded before 8 a.m. Friday to Candler Concrete Products. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was notified. Eric R. Lucero, spokesman for the U.S. Department of Labor, confirmed in an email to The Times on Friday afternoon the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.

A man who answered the phone at Candler Concrete Products on Friday afternoon said the company had no comment.
