A 55-year-old Dawson County woman was seriously injured around 11 a.m. Friday at the 800 block of North Georgia Premium Outlets.

Dawson County Emergency Servicies initially responded to the call.

Battalion Chief Milton Keller said the woman was on a ladder and fell 5 to 6 feet.

She suffered a severe compound ankle fracture to the point that it was nearly severed.

It's unclear if her foot got caught on the way down or something happened in the way she landed, he added.

She was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta for immediate surgery.
