A Dahlonega woman was charged with vehicular homicide early Thursday following a single-car crash in North Hall in which her passenger was killed.

Kaela Allison, 22, fled on foot from the scene of the 2:20 a.m. crash on U.S. 129 near Honeysuckle Road, Georgia State Patrol officials said. She was tracked by Hall County Sheriff’s tracking dogs to a church on Nopone Road.

William Brett Myers, 27, of Dawsonville died of blunt force trauma at the scene, Hall County Coroner Marion Merck said. Myers was a passenger in the Dodge Magnum Allison was driving, the patrol said.

Allison was charged with driving under the influence, failure to maintain lane, leaving the scene of an accident and first-degree vehicular homicide.

According to the patrol, Allison was driving north on U.S. 129 when the car left the road, went across a residential driveway and a yard, struck a tree and then struck a parked car.

Allison was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of noncritical injuries, then to the Hall County Jail, where she remained Thursday.
