A Gainesville woman was charged with drug trafficking after she signed for a special postal delivery of 12 pounds of marijuana, authorities said.
Lt. Scott Ware said an agent with the Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad made the delivery Friday wearing the uniform of a private shipping company, which he declined to name.
The company earlier alerted authorities that a package mailed from McAllen, Texas, was suspicious. Agents opened the package and found 10 vacuum-sealed plastic bags containing 12 pounds of marijuana, Ware said.
Blanca Noemi Martinez, 38, was charged with trafficking marijuana after signing for the package at a home in the 1600 block of Hancock Avenue extension, Ware said.
The drugs were valued by authorities at $24,000.
