Nature’s Tapestry is the main window in The Henry Edward Braselton Chapel at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Braselton.

Five story-themed stained glass windows were recently installed at the chapel of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s Braselton campus.

“I can’t seem to find words that truly describe the beauty of the stained glass,” said Jim Moore, chairman of the Medical Center Foundation, in the news release. “Sometimes we forget the impact art has on our life, until we are fortunate enough to stand before a masterpiece like this.”

The chapel is named for the late Henry Edward Braselton, who served as mayor of Braselton from 1988 to 2001 and held leadership roles in the town council for more than 40 years, according to a news release from the hospital.

The windows, crafted by Kentucky artist Laura Mentor over 18 months, are thanks to a gift from Braselton’s family to The Medical Center Foundation.

Mentor met with the Braselton family and designed the pieces after listening to their memories of him. Mentor also spent time in the town of Braselton learning about the history of the community.

Carol Burrell, CEO of Northeast Georgia Health System, said Braselton stood with Dr. Jim Jackson in 2007 to participate in the cornerstone celebration at the site of the Braselton hospital.

“He was so proud then, and he would indeed be proud today to see the community accessing health care close to home,” Burrell said.
