A Gainesville-based construction company has downsized but is staying in its Main Street office in midtown.

Wesley Owenby, the president of JOMCO Construction, said he is the only employee working at the company after its largest account went on hold with a developer. Owenby did not name that account.

JOMCO formerly had 12 employees, but Owenby said he advised employees to look for other work. If the account is restored, employees could come back, he said.

“I’m just trying to do right by the employees,” Owenby said.

Some projects JOMCO has completed include several Dollar General stores, including the one on Gillsville Highway, and the North Lake Square outparcel that houses Five Guys and Chicken Salad Chick on Dawsonville Highway.

The company was founded in 2011 and moved into its new Main Street office in August. Before that, JOMCO offices were next door.
