Michael Bailey, 26, was driving his Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound on the highway just north of High Meadow Trail when he attempted to pass a Jeep Wrangler driven by 31-year-old Jennifer Crews of Gainesville, officials said.

Due to oncoming traffic in the southbound lane, Bailey tried to get back in the northbound lane and sideswiped Crews’ car, sending both vehicles off the road, officials said.

Bailey’s truck struck a tree and overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no passengers in his truck.

Crews had only minor injuries in the crash, officials said.
