You’ve strung twinkling lights around it and hung ornaments with care, but you know that Christmas tree has to come down eventually.
When you’re ready, here’s a few ways you can discard it.
Hall County residents can drop off their Christmas trees beginning the day after Christmas at any of the county’s 12 compactor sites as well as the Hall County Recycling Center.
Undecorated live trees will be accepted through Jan. 9.
Trees are mulched, and that mulch is available for free at the recycling center 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Jan. 9. Mulch generated from debris clearing is available year-round at the recycling center, while supplies last.
The recycling center is located at 1008 Chestnut St. in Gainesville. Here is a list and map of compactor site locations.
Gainesville residents can leave their trees at their curb for pickup.
Oakwood residents can drop their trees at the corner of Allen and Railroad streets.
