- Memorial Golf Tournament: 10 a.m. Friday, Chattahoochee Golf Course.
- Gospel Extravaganza: featuring the Savannah State University Wesleyan Gospel Choir and several area church choirs and groups, 7 p.m. Friday, Rucker Memorial Baptist Church

The Grady Young Foundation is gearing up for its sixth annual Memorial Weekend, which will focus on "recognizing service in our communities."
A number of events are planned Friday through Sunday to honor the legacy of Grady Young, a lifetime Hall County resident who, among many roles, served as layman president emeritus of the Northwestern Baptist Association of Georgia and served for 26 years as treasurer of the Congress of Christian Education.
The highlight of the weekend is the "Service to Serve" Recognition Banquet.
The banquet will honor 25 members of the service industry.
"We’ll be honoring members of the business community — customer services representatives, entrepreneurs and people who work for government agencies that have demonstrated exemplary service to the community or service with a smile," said Rickey D. Young, chairman of the Recognition Banquet Committee. "Those members of the service community tend not to get recognition."
Each year, the banquet honors a different segment of the community. In the past, teachers, military personnel and community leaders have been recognized.
In addition to the banquet, there will be a number of events throughout the weekend for people of all ages.
"We think all the events are very important in keeping with the mission of the Grady Young Foundation," Young said.
A new event this year is an SAT preparation workshop, featuring nationally recognized SAT instructor John Swann, with tips for students on boosting test scores.
"We always try to keep an educational component that deals directly with the young people of the community," Rickey Young said.
But all of the events — a gospel concert, golf tournament, father-son brunch, banquet and worship service — are planned as a way to honor the legacy of Grady Young.
"He was well known for his Christian work and for his community service," Rickey Young said.
The group is hoping to raise money over the weekend to provide scholarships for Hall County students.
To date, the Grady Young Foundation has provided 48 scholarships.
