After a nearly two-hour foot chase Saturday morning involving police dogs, Hall County deputies and warrant units arrested a man who is wanted for larceny.

Deputies received calls last night and this morning around 10 a.m. regarding Emory Shane West, who is wanted in Hall County for larceny, or theft.

Deputies located and arrested West around noon near Broome and Gaines Mill roads.

According to Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Deputy Nicole Bailes, residents in the area discovered the suspect Saturday morning sleeping in their outbuilding “and indicated that West was acting very suspicious, possibly under the influence of narcotics.”

Bailes said West was not believed to be armed “but potentially under the influence of narcotics — his behavior is erratic and unknown state of mind.”

She said West was identified “when he called into our 911 center requesting to speak with drug agents, in addition to homeowners in the area that called into 911 identifying him.”
