Veterans workshops set for Toccoa, Cornelia

The Georgia Department of Labor will host its monthly workshops in Toccoa and Cornelia to help veterans apply for benefits, receive counseling and move into the workforce. Workshops will be open to all veterans, their spouses and their caregivers.

The first workshop will be held on Aug. 23 from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Department of Labor’s Toccoa Career Center located at 37 Foreacre Street. A second workshop will be held on Aug. 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Habersham Career Center located at 215 Hodges Street in Cornelia.

The workshops will include job assistance, veterans benefits, health insurance, information on services available at the Lawrenceville Veterans Center and job training opportunities.

Veterans should bring valid identification, including military ID cards or driver’s licenses, along with their resumes.

Veterans can reserve a seat for the Cornelia workshop by calling the Habersham Career Center.

All GDOL career centers provide a wide range of employment services specifically for veterans. Career centers are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
