Living in poverty means having to make stark, difficult choices about where to spend what little money is available from day to day. That’s the lesson Joy Griffin, president and CPO of the United Way of Hall County, wanted attendees to learn at the agency’s 2016 annual campaign kickoff Thursday at the Gainesville Civic Center. Will it be a third meal for the day or that lingering car payment?
