A lockdown at the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus has been lifted, but college officials are alerting students about an armed robbery at a nearby Game Stop store.

“Unknown direction of travel at this time,” says the alert, sent about 3 p.m.

Earlier, the college sent an alert saying that a person with a weapon had been reported near the campus and that people should “avoid the area and secure in classroom/office until further notice.”

UNG describes the robbery suspect as a 5-foot-5 black man with a goatee, wearing all black clothing and carrying a black gun.

Anyone with information should call UNG at 706-864-1500.
